What's Your Massachusetts?

A Forum with Young Adults about the future of the Commonwealth

Young people are central to the economic and civic growth of the Commonwealth. This initiative is aimed at making sure young people are attracted to Massachusetts; see this as a place to start companies, launch a career and build a home and family. This applies equally to people who are from Massachusetts- making sure they can make their dreams happen here; and to retaining young people who come here for education or work.

This listening tour is an opportunity for the Administration to ask young people to stay and ask for their input on the state's issues, as well as give them a chance to network with each other and discuss a common vision.

Over eight hundred young people have already joined the conversation in Springfield, Dartmouth, Boston and Amherstat meetings featuring Governor Patrick and Secretaries Greg Bialecki and Suzanne Bump of the Executive Offices of Housing and Economic Development and Labor and Workforce Development. Click here to find out what they had to say!

Please join Secretary Greg Bialecki of the Executive Office of Housing and Economic Development
and a panel of local young adults to continue this important conversation.

First Come First Served!

Training will be presented by PHI working to improve the lives of people who need home or residential care by improving the lives of the workers who provide that care. Our goal is to ensure caring, stable relationships between consumers and workers, so that both may live with dignity,
respect and independence.

With nearly 50 staff, PHI works to strengthen our nation's longterm care direct-care workforce, which includes nearly 3 million home health aides, certified nurse aides, and personal care attendants. PHI programs develop recruitment, training, supervision, and client-centered caregiving practices-along with the public policies necessary to support those practices.
PHI's premise is that creating quality jobs for direct-care workers is essential to providing high-quality, cost-effective services to long-term care consumers: Quality Care through Quality Jobs.

Presenters for the Day:

Susan Misiorski: From her earliest experiences as a CNA, Sue has been an advocate for change, and is today a national leader in the long-term care culture change movement. Her particular expertise lies in helping organizations understand where and how to begin, then assisting them with sustaining and expanding their vision.

Kate Waldo: Kate's early professional experiences as a recreational therapist and as an Assistant Administrator with several long-term care organizations helped shape her understanding about the connection between the quality of care that people received and the quality of jobs for those who
worked most closely with her clients. Kate brings her deep and abiding passion for transforming the culture of eldercare/disability services by creating organizations and systems of care that are responsive to the needs of both the client and the worker.
