The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) has launched a multi-platform, multi-year national  communications
campaign designed to highlight the growing business need for talented human resources (HR) professionals. SHRM says this is
the first time the HR profession has launched a comprehensive
education and awareness cam
paign to show how HR professionals are meeting the challenges of a
changing world and contributing to organizations'
success.

A slowdown in tips is another blow for increasingly squeezed
service workers who often don't have much of a cushion to fall back on when times get tough.
Michael Lynn, professor of con
sumer behavior at the Cornell School of Hotel Administration,
estimates that Americans tip $30
billion annually. The restaurant industry in the U.S. employs 13.1 million people, making it the na
tion's third-largest employer, behind the federal government and the healthcare industry, according to the National Restaurant Association. Millions more people
work for car washes, nail salons, taxi  companies, dog  groomers and in other jobs in which tips play a role in their wages.
CareerBuilder.com has launched WorkInRetail.com, a new site that specifically connects job seekers with retail employers. Corporate, hourly and management positions are available with retailers of all sizes and from all categories. WorkInRetail.com allows job seekers to search opportunities by category, location and position and to apply for jobs, learn more about retail careers, explore education opportunities and get career advice. Employers can post jobs, view detailed candidate applications, reach out to qualified candidates and promote their employment brands and opportunities.
