  · Students in the U.S. have lost
access to more than $6.7 billion
a year in education loans after private lenders fled the market. Dozens of lenders, led by College Loan Corp. and CIT Group,
stopped making federally guaranteed loans  because the U.S.
cut subsidies and investors hurt
by the subprime-mortgage crisis
shunned bonds backed by student loans. More schools say they are seeking access to U.S. direct loans as private lenders drop out.

·All employers are required to complete and maintain a federal
Form 1-9 for each new hire, documenting their eligibility to work
in  the  US.  I-9Zoom  is  software that helps employers comply with this regulation. Developed by INSZoom, a federally-approved Designated Agent of the Department
of Homeland Security, the product ensures the integrity, accuracy and reliability of a company's 1-9 forms, from the time of a new hire to end of employment and beyond.  I9Zoom enables electronic completion and storage of 1-9 forms and helps  companies  manage  every step involved in 1-9 management.

Natty Dressers More Apt to Be Promoted
m

Leave the casual clothes in your closet if you want to get promoted at work, according to a survey of senior executives at the nations 1,000 largest companies by OfficeTeam. Thirty-three percent of managers surveyed by the staffing service reported that a person's clothing plays a "significant" role in his or her chances of promotion, and 60 percent said that clothing "somewhat" influenced their decision to advance an employee. "A polished appearance lends credibility and may help employers envision the staff member in a role with greater responsibility," says Diane Domeyer, executive director of OfficeTeam.

OfficeTeam provides the following tips on work attire:

  •  Wear an outfit only if you can envision your manager or another top executive wearing it.
  • Avoid flamboyant or cutting-edge clothing choices unless you work in the fashion or other creative industry.
  • Wear clothing that fits properly, complements your skin tones and body shape, and makes you feel confident about yourself.
  •  Avoid sloppy attire by wearing clothing that is clean and pressed

Pet Dentists in Demand
c

With an estimated 81.7 million cats and 72 million dogs in the United States, there are strong opportunities available for workers in pet care occupations such as veterinarians, pet sitters, and pet groomers. But one often overlooked field is veterinary dentistry. Veterinary dentists not only conduct regular cleanings or pull teeth, but offer "comprehensive treatment of periodontal and other dental diseases," according to the Journal of the American Medical Veterinary Medical Association. As the number of pet owners in the US continues to increase, look for more demand for veterinary dentists.

Veterinary dentistry is one of 20 veterinary specialties that is recognized by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA).

For more information, on careers in veterinary dentistry, contact the following organizations: American Veterinary Medical Association (
