No, laid-off workers aren't gathering their mosquito repellent, tents, and Smores fixings, but they are heading to camp. The Chicago Tribune reports that out-of-work people across the country are participating in LaidOffCamp, a casual gathering of unemployed workers and freelancers that encourages networking, an exchange of resources, and cathartic storytelling of corporate downsizing, difficult job searches, and general gripes about the world of work. The Chicago version of the LaidOffCamp was held on campus at Loyola University, and advice was offered on resume writing, job search tactics, and health insurance.
